Single Room Maternity Care
At Mercy Medical Center, we see Single Room Maternity Care as a way to provide parents with the privacy and dignity associated with the natural process of birth with the assurance of a safe environment.  Single Room Maternity Care is the concept of providing a maternity patient/family with private room from admission to discharge. Each room is fully equipped to manage a normal delivery - equipment is moved into the room as needed instead of moving the patients to the equipped rooms. Each staff member is fully prepared to assist the patient and her family through the birthing experience within her own room.  Each room is equipped with a jacuzzi bath for the new mom to use and a sleeping area for a family member. There are also accommodations for “rooming-in” facilities for the newborn so the new family need not be separated. The rooms are newly decorated with a home environment in mind.

Centralized Fetal Monitoring
Rooms are also equipped with the latest technology with the addition of Centralized Fetal Monitoring.  These monitors are used to track contractions, baby’s heart rate, and mother’s vital information. The central monitoring station connects computerized fetal monitors in each birthing room to the nurses’ station, clinic offices, and doctors’ homes, allowing providers to monitor the progression of labor from wherever they are.
