Patient Financial Services

As a Catholic health care provider and tax-exempt organization, we are called to meet the needs of the people who seek our care.  Mercy Medical Center will provide medically necessary health care services to all persons who are in need, regardless of age, race, religion, national origin, gender, handicap, or ability to pay.

Mercy Medical Center is committed to providing the best possible care for you and your family. In addition to caring for your medical needs, we also want to help you understand your financial responsibility as a patient.

Your insurance information

You will be asked to provide or present all insurance/third party payer information. This is usually found on your insurance card, so please have your insurance cards with you when visiting with a Pre-Admission Representative by phone or when you come to the hospital.

While Mercy Medical Center will file insurance claims on your behalf, this does not release you from any responsibility for the charges billed to your account. Your insurance contract is between you and your insurance company.

What does insurance pay?

It is important for you to know your insurance policy. Mercy Medical Center cannot predict which services individual insurers will cover. Your employer or insurance agent can provide you with coverage information.

Mercy Medical Center will allow your insurance company reasonable time to process your claims and remit payment. Usually this is thirty days from our billing date. Please recognize that we have no authority or responsibility with your insurance carrier.

When will I receive my bill?

If you are covered by insurance, you will receive a statement after your insurance company has processed your claim. Patients without insurance will receive a statement four to seven days after the date of service. All other statements are generated every thirty days. The status of your account will be noted on each statement.

Payment Policy/Financial Assistance

It is Mercy Medical Center’s policy that any balances owed by you are to be paid in full within 90 days of the date of your first bill. If you do not have insurance or will have difficulty in paying your portion of the bill, our financial counselors are available to discuss your individual needs.  You could be eligible for financial assistance to help pay for the cost of your health care received at Mercy Medical Center.  Please contact our Patient Accounts Department at 701-774-7458 for more information.
