| Primary Duties: |
Triages patient presenting to the Emergency Room. Has a knowledge of EMTALA laws and adheres to. Collects and documents data such as history, mode of injury, EMS data, medication, allergies, immunization status, along with screening for abuse and neglect. Completes nursing assessment of patient and documents appropriately into patient chart. Utilizes the nursing process in developing a plan of care. Sets priorities in plan of care bases on assessed needs. Anticipates personnel, supplies and equipment required to care for patients based on assessed needs. Implements plan of care and document in chart. Continuously observes, monitors and evaluates patient’s response to care with documentation. Communicates with patients and families regarding patient status and health care needs. Administers treatments, medication, and cares with documentation. Assess pain, educates patients in pain management, administers pain medication as ordered and assesses response to pain. Manages intravenous fluids along with IV mediation and blood administration. Observes patients for adverse reaction to medication and treatment. Demonstrates proficiency in advance nursing skill; re: airway, dysrhymia, shock and trauma management. Demonstrated proficiency in management of complex equipment; i.e. cardiac and oxygen saturation monitors, fluid/blood pumps, temporary pacers, central access devices, etc. Serves as a team leader for Code 99 situations. Engages patient/family in education and discharge teaching as appropriate. Completes follow up and referral phone calls. Reports specified cases to appropriate authority. Maintains order, stock and cleanliness of all areas in the Emergency Department. Expands and updates knowledge base by ongoing continuing education. Participates in councils, committees and information and education programs to maintain professional standards. Uses Meditech system to enter orders, charges, requests and patient data. Practice safe work habits, compliance with safety rules and regulations, adheres to safety policies. Accomplishes personal/professional goals outlined on yearly appraisal.

| Qualifications: |
Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Experience: 2 years of nursing experience preferred. Certifications: BLS, ACLS, TNCC, PALS. NRP preferred. Required licensure: Must be a current North Dakota Registered Nurse
